Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of NWA Parade of Champions 2016 at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, Texas!
The venue is an older former movie theater and vaudeville house. I love the hell out of it.
PRE-SHOW:
The Faces of Death vs. The Revolution.
This was bonus match for VIP ticketholders. They had a fun back and forth match which the Revolution won. I was setting up so I didn't get a chance to do coverage.
IHWE-DFW champion Americos vs. DFW champion Ashton Jenkins.
Jenkins was a pretty vocal heel. He reminded me of the early 1990s Chris Jericho in his swagger. Americos was completely masked and costumed in red, white and blue. Jenkins kept trying to stall until Americos had enough and dropkicked him out of the ring. Americos hit a pescado over the top to the floor. He brought Jenkins back in and went for a swanton, but Jenkins pulled his knees up. Jenkins drilled him with a back cracker for a two count. Jenkins nailed a powerslam for a two count. They went back and forth until Americos used a forward roll to score the pinfall. Wow, when was the last time that was used as a finish?
Your winner and used IHWE-DFW champion, Americos!
This was a pretty fun back and forth match where they played to the crowd and had some nice exchanges.
Battle Royal for NWA National championship shot.
The winner gets a shot later in the night. It was all the IHWE locals. Carson Storm won the match. NWA National champion Greg Anthony came out and complained about the methods Storm used, hiding outside and tossing the final competitor out. He said this was the biggest show the NWA has had in 15 years. He said he was walking in and out the champion but wished Storm luck.
Anthony went to leave the ring but was attacked. They rang the bell....

Stone worked over Anthony and scored a two count after a powerslam. He drilled Anthony in the corner with a series of shoulderblocks in the corner. Storm went to come off the top but Anthony put his foot up. Storm avoided it and went to drop an elbow but Anthony rolled away so no water in the pool. Anthony cut him off but was caught in the corner and nailed with a series of chops Anthony nailed a big back elbow in the corner and went to the top, nailing a flying elbow. Several other wrestlers, obviously partial to Storm, hit the ring, including Charlie Haas and attacked Anthony. The referee called for a DQ. Black Bart came out on stage cracking his whip. The Empire hit the ring, as did Jim Cornette.
Cornette cut a promo on Haas for running with Black Bart. Bart badmouthed Cornette. Cornette said that as the acting General Manager tonight, he was ruling that he was going to be at ringside in the main event to offset Bart. Bart went nuts with a nonsensical promo that I loved because it was so ridiculous. He called Cornette an a**hole. Cornette said he was going to manage tonight. The crowd popped.
It's 2016 and I'm watching Jim Cornette and Black Bart cut promos on each other. I love my job.
IHWE promoter David Fuller introduced NWA President Bruce Tharpe, saying he's brought the NWA back to prominence. He said he wanted to acknowledge Fuller and said it was the first year in history that the NWA has had an event over Wrestlemania week. They presented Bill Apter with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Apter thanked them. He said he was flatted by the outpouring of support he received from the fans tonight. Haas played to the crowd for a long time, cutting a promo that he was angry that the fans were cheering for Jax instead of him after 20 years of being in the business. He tried to walk out but Shelton Benjamin came out and stopped him, forcing Haas back to the ring. That was a nice surprise.
