variety.com/2016/more/news/stxs-the-boy-tracking-as-studios-strongest-yet-1201673524/STX Entertainment’s “The Boy” has been quietly climbing the DAR-Film leaderboard, improving its industry ranking from 65th to fifth over the past two weeks. With two weeks to go until its Jan. 22 theatrical release, “The Boy” is tracking as STX’s strongest film to date across social and digital platforms. Compared against “The Boy’s” 1.9 mon engagements this week, the newcomer studio’s first few films (“The Gift” and “Secret In Their Eyes”) saw less than 60,000engagements a piece between three and two weeks out. “The Boy” is a stand-out STX film by comparison in all areas: social fan acquisition, content engagement, video viewership, Wikipedia page views and conversation volume. Based on the horror film’s tracking so far, STX may start 2016 with its biggest opening weekend to date. Each week Variety publishes ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings (DAR) – Film, a measurement of fan engagement across all the major digital platforms as it relates to film (see the TV version here). Provided by ListenFirst Media, DAR – Film measures what entertainment content is resonating most across Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube and Wikipedia combined.
