MGM Buys Sci-Fi Action Pitch From Matthew Orton
MGM is staying in business with Matthew Orton, acquiring an untitled sci-fi action pic from the UK scribe in a preemptive deal for mid-six figures. It comes after the studio last month made a pre-emptive deal for his untitled spec script about the team that hunted down and captured Adolf Eichmann.
The latest deal comes after Orton came out to meet on the Eichmann project (he also met others around town and just signed with WME), and it turns out he had another idea fleshed out and ready to go. Plot details are limited, but we’re hearing the idea is in vein of Alfonso Cuaron’s Children Of Men. Cassidy Lange and Tabitha Shick are the execs on it for MGM.
The Eichmann project will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Automatik, and Bridge Of Spies writer Matt Charman is executive producing.
Orton is repped by Grandview and The Agency.
