Toni Collette, Jason Patric Joining Jennifer Aniston in War Drama ‘The Yellow Birds’
Toni Collette and Jason Patric will star alongside Jennifer Aniston and Jack Huston in the war drama “The Yellow Birds.”
Collette will play the mother of a soldier who returns from war with a secret that has forever changed him, while Patric will portray a captain.
Alexandre Moors is directing the adaptation of the hit novel of the same name from David Lowery’s script. Cinelou Films partners Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton will finance and produce the film. Story Mining CEO and President Jeffrey Sharp is also producing with Story Mining’s Jim Kohlberg executive producing.
Cinelou also announced it has signed with Warner Bros. to handle worldwide international distribution for six releases over the next three years.
Tye Sheridan and Alden Ehrenreich also star as a pair of Army enlistees sent off to fight in the Gulf War, where they form an unbreakable bond and vow to keep each other safe. Huston plays a sergeant who takes the two young men under his wing and Aniston plays a devoted mother to one of the young men.
“The Yellow Birds” was published in 2012 and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Author Kevin Powers served as a machine gunner with the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.
Year-old Cinelou recently completed post-production on the upcoming Eddie Murphy-Britt Robertson family drama “Mr. Church” from director Bruce Beresford, along with “Burn Your Maps,” starring Vera Farmiga and Jacob Tremblay (“Room”). In November, the company announced plans to begin shooting “The Comedian,” starring Robert De Niro and Jennifer Aniston, in early 2016.
Aniston starred in “Cake,” Cinelou’s debut project.
Collette is repped by CAA and Patric is repped by The Gersh Agency.
