deadline.com/2015/09/neal-moritz-sony-pictures-tv-overall-deal-original-film-1201558318/Veteran producer Neal H. Moritz is formalizing his relationship with Sony on the television side, closing a two-year overall deal with Sony Pictures TV. Original, which most recently was under an overall deal at CBS Television Studios, is partnered with Sony TV on comic book adaptation Preacher, which just got picked up to series by AMC with a 10-episode order. Original and Sony TV also are collaborating on Roadside Picnic, a series adaptation of the Strugatsky brothers’ sci-fi novel in the works at WGN America. Under the overall pact, which covers drama and comedy for network and cable, Moritz has hired Pavun Shetty to head his Original Films’ TV division. Shetty will handle all television development and production. He spent the past five years at Chernin Entertainment, most recently as the Head of Comedy, where he produced Fox’s New Girl. Prior to that, Shetty was at Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video where he worked on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock while also developing new series. He started his executive career in drama development at NBC. On the feature side, Original is currently under a long-term deal with Sony. Moritz is behind the Fast And Furious and Jump Street franchises. He is currently producing the Morten Tyldum-directed Passengers starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. Moritz is repped by UTA for television and attorney Howard Abramson.
