The 10-part drama was produced by RED Production Company (“Happy Valley”) for Sky1 in the U.K. Penned by Danny Brocklehurst (“Closing Off,” “Accused”) and shot on location in the U.K., “The Five” is an emotional thriller tuning on a little boy, Jesse, who disappeared after being bullied by his brother Mark (Tom Cullen) and his three friends, Pru (Sarah Solemani), Danny (O-T Fagbenle) and Slade (Lee Ingleby). Twenty years later, Danny – now a detective – learns that Jesse’s DNA has been found at a murder scene. He is alive and out there. “Having an international best-selling author like Harlan Coben collaborate with RED Production Company on a series is truly a privilege,” says Rodolphe Buet, prexy of international marketing and distribution at Studiocanal. “Harlan has brought his stamp of quality from his best-selling books to television and created a very special series that will appeal to broadcasters worldwide.” Nicola Shindler, exec producer and founder of RED said “The Five” would “appeal to crime thriller fans, drama lovers, and of course, Harlan Coben’s worldwide fan base.” He added that “the combination of Harlan’s crime thriller credentials and Danny’s award-winning writing talent makes “The Five” a blockbuster drama and a piece of truly not-to-be missed TV.”
