Indie Thriller ‘Circle’ Squares Filmbuff Deal
Circle, the indie sci-fi thriller co-written and directed by Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione that premiered in May at the Seattle Film Festival, has landed a deal at Filmbuff and will hit VOD beginning October 16. The pic follows 50 strangers brought together who are forced to choose the one person among them who deserves to live, pitting a group of economically, generationally, socially, and religiously diverse people as they come to grips with the shared responsibility of each other’s existence. Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu, and Xbox are among the platforms on board for the bow, and the pic was already sold to Netflix.
Carter Jenkins, Lawrence Kao, Allegra Masters, Michael Nardelli and Julie Benz star in the thriller produced by Hann and Miscione’s Taggart Productions and Votiv Films (Obvious Child). Brent Stiefel, Michael Nardelli, Tim Nardelli, Scott Einbinder and Justin Bursch produced and Autumn Federici, Kyle Hansen and Brad Reinke are executive producers. Hann and Miscione made their directorial debuts with the web series The Vault.
“Circle is another example of an indie thriller who has dared to intellectually challenge viewers, while delivering a heart-pounding and personally affecting experience,” says FilmBuff’s Sam Scupp, who negotiated the deal. “Films that challenge the norm are what we strive for here at FilmBuff, and we can’t be more proud to have had a part in helping this film find its audience.”
