Monterey Media has acquired all U.S. and Canada rights for festival hit Of Mind And Music. Based on Nicolas Bazan’s novel Una Vida: A Fable of Music and the Mind, the film chronicles a street musician suffering from memory loss who connects with a disillusioned neuroscientist intent on helping her. The two bring together New Orleans with the Jazz music the city helped create. Of Mind And Music is directed by Richie Adams (Inventing Adam) from a script Adams cowrote with Bazan, it stars Aunjanue Ellis (The Help), Joaquim de Almeida (Desperado), Bill Cobbs (Oz the Great and Powerful), Sharon lawrence (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ruth Nega (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.). It’s produced by Adams and Nancy Green-Keyes, co produced by Brent Caballero, Peter Cummings and Joel C. High, line-produced by Phil Smoot, and exec produced by Bazan. The deal was negotiated by Caballero and Adams, and Monterey Media’s Scott Mansfield.
