Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports this week that talent under contract at Lucha Underground have been told that filming for a second season could begin in September.
This means talent can go ahead and book up for weekends in August but some have gone ahead and done this for September as well while telling promoters that they may have to pull out.
Meltzer notes his concerns that a TV deal in Mexico hasn’t came to fruition, nor has a potential deal that was mentioned with Univision in the U.S which he notes has gone quiet.
He explains that with just Unimas and the El Rey Network in the U.S for a second season, without a deal in Mexico, they stand to lose a lot of money with no real revenue coming in.
The lack of house shows is also a concern for Meltzer as he notes that this seems to indicate that they have no confidence in the product, nor do they have any international deals.
