variety.com/2015/film/news/masterminds-relativity-studios-pushed-october-1201535536/‘Masterminds’ Pushed to October by Struggling Relativity Studios Relativity Studios, which has been struggling to cover debts by refinancing and taking on new partners, announced Tuesday that it would postpone the release of “Masterminds” from Aug. 19 to Oct. 9. The rescheduling is an effort “to allow the company to focus on its recapitalization and give this film the proper attention and support it deserves,” according to a statement from Relativity. The release from the company did not elaborate, but the postponement appears to be the first obvious impact of Relativity’s financial struggles, which caused it to take on a new financial partner, Toronto-based Catalyst Capital Group, this week. The company has high hopes for “Masterminds,” a comedy about a night guard at an armored car company who tries to pull off one of the biggest bank heists in U.S. history. The film is directed by Jared Hess, who helmed “Napoleon Dynamite,” and stars Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis and Jason Sudeikis.
