Marvel is skipping the Con for the first time since 2011.
Both Marvel and Paramount are skipping Comic-Con, the annual comic book convention that takes place in San Diego in July.
Sources say the the studios chose to not attend because timing wasn't right for them when it comes to their upcoming releases. Marvel, always a behemoth when it comes to the Con, is skipping for the first time since 2011 because Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, is coming out a week after the fest and Civil War is currently shooting, so footage wouldn't be ready in time. Marvel also outlined details of its Phase 3 plans at a fan event in October.
Sony also will not be doing a major presentation at the Con, but its Screen Gems label is bringing the cast of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to the stage on Saturday.
However, movie fans should still have plenty to entertain them when the Con takes place July 9-12. Warner Bros. will host a presentation on the Saturday that will spend a significant amount of time on its DC superhero universe, including plenty of stars taking the stage.
And while Disney may not have Marvel Studios making an appearance, it will bring Star Wars to Hall H for a Friday event that's sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Lionsgate will present on Thursday, with a focus on the final installment in the Hunger Games franchise, and Legendary and Fox are both expected to have a presence in Hall H, although official confirmation has yet to be announced.
Marvel will have a presence on the TV side, however, with ABC bringing both Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D to the Con.
