ComiXology will remain distributor of English-language single-issue comics, trade collections and graphic novels on the comiXology app, and it will continue to power the Marvel Comics app on iPad, iPhone, Android devices and Kindle Fire tablets. In addition, effective today, more than 12,000 single-issue digital comics have been made available for purchase worldwide directly on Amazon and on the Kindle store. Founded in 2007, comiXology pioneered digital comics sales and currently offers more than 50,000 digital issues from an array of publishers. It consistently has been one of the most profitable apps on iTunes. Amazon purchased comiXology in April 2014. As Marvel increasingly ties comics marketing to its blockbuster film adaptations, the Marvel app has become the top-grossing comics app on both IOS and the Google Play store.
