Rubin, who held senior-level posts at Universal and later at Sony, has died. He was 60. Rubin died June 1 at his Los Angeles home after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. Starting out at the law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips in 1983, he began a long run at Universal in 1987 as a lawyer in its motion picture group. Rubin was promoted to SVP business affairs three years later and transitioned to EVP of Universal Home Entertainment Productions in 1998. Later, the Yonkers, NY, native was named EVP of Universal Worldwide Entertainment. After leaving Universal, Rubin was named EVP of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. In 2011, he founded Hollywood2Go, a series of live seminars providing insight into the behind-the-scenes workings of all aspects of Hollywood production. Rubin also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, NY, where he worked to collect, preserve and restore photographic collections and rare films. Rubin is survived by his wife Melissa and son Charles. A memorial service will be held at noon June 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.
