Genre film icon Andy Serkis will play Supreme Leader Snoke in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” film, StarWars.com reports.
There are few other details about the role, other than the fact that the fact that Serkis will film the part through motion capture, like many of his previous genre roles. Serkis did, however, share that his character has “been through some stuff” in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Vanity Fair’s Annie Leibovitz also released a new photo (above), which shows the actor in the process of filming his “Star Wars” role. Though Serkis has not yet appeared in any footage, his voice can be heard in the narration on the initial “Star Wars” teaser trailer.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie. It opens Dec. 18.
