variety.com/2015/film/news/relativity-media-exec-richard-potter-leaves-1201479438/Richard Potter, executive VP of production and development, left Relativity Studios last week, a source close to the company said. Relativity, the maker of films such as “Don Jon,” “Oculus” and the upcoming “Masterminds,” is expected to name a replacement soon, while Potter continues to consult with the company, which is headed by its founder, Ryan Kavanaugh. Potter reported to president of production Robbie Brenner. Before joining Relativity two years ago, Potter was a writer of scripts including “Diary of a Car Salesman,” “The Most Haunted House in England” and a remake of “The Boys From Brazil,” which is in development. He had previously served as a senior VP at Miramax as head of the story department at Dimension Films, where he oversaw “Scream,” “Scream 2,” “The Faculty” and “Nightwatch.” Relativity reportedly raised a $250 million round of financing, announced in January, from VII Peaks Capital of San Francisco. VII Peaks managing partner Gurpreet Chandhoke said the funding comes in advance of an IPO, which Relativity would reportedly issue some time in 2016. Brent Lang contributed to this report.
