deadline.com/2015/04/participant-media-jim-berk-resign-1201408035/Participant Media says it’s “dedicated to entertainment that inspires.” But the thought that occurred to CEO Jim Berk today was to resign. He has been temporarily replaced by founder and chairman Jeff Skoll while the board looks for someone else. Berk says he’s “incredibly proud of our collective work to drive change through entertainment, but after more than eight years at Participant it is the right time for someone else to take the helm.” Skoll praised the outgoing CEO for having helped the company to “span film, television and digital, serving a global audience of socially conscious consumers.” He adds that he has “never been more energized or excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.” The company remains “committed to inspiring and compelling social change to the world’s most pressing problems through the power of great stories and engaging our audiences to take meaningful action.” The company has produced more than 60 films including The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Citizenfour, Fast Food Nation, Good Night And Good Luck, The Help, and An Inconvenient Truth. It also backs the Pivot TV network and TakePart, a digital news and lifestyle destination.
