The memorable original black comedy was scripted by Christopher Columbus, who’ll produce this along with Steven Spielberg, an exec producer on the original. It’s not surprising that Warner Bros would reignite this, it was a small-budget film that made a fortune. I’d heard that Columbus might helm this, but studio insiders say that’s not in the cards at this point. The original was a cleverly dark Christmas tale that was too funny to be really scary. We’ll see how a new configuration of the story works out. Ellsworth’s credits include Disturbia and the remakes Last House On The Left, and Red Dawn. He’s repped by Robert Lazar and Larry Shuman at The Shuman Company.
