Deal marks the second script Bress has sold in four weeks, the last being American Hostage to Bill Block at Merced Media. American Drifter centers on a man who loses his father, a guy who has taught him to use his mind to do the impossible. Feeling guilty about his death and watching the love of his life go blind in an accident, the man travels the world through the fall of the Berlin Wall, Desert Storm, the LA riots and 9/11. Ultimately, he is reunited with his love. J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner of BenderSpink are producing. Bress is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Bress, best known for directing “The Butterfly Effect” and writing on the “Final Destination” series, recently set up home-invasion drama “American Hostage” with Bill Block at Merced Media. “American Drifter” centers on a man raised by his eccentric father who teaches him to use mind over matter to do the impossible. After feeling responsible for the death of his dad and watching the love of his life go blind in an accident, he travels the world with fate leading him to the fall of the Berlin Wall, Desert Storm, the L.A. riots and 9/11 until he is miraculously reunited with his love. BenderSpink, best known for New Line comedies such as “We’re the Millers” and the upcoming “Vacation” reboot, came on board this week to produce Disney’s live-action version of “Mulan.”
