variety.com/2015/film/news/emilia-clarke-spike-island-us-distribution-1201459590/Emilia Clarke’s ‘Spike Island’ Set for U.S. Distribution by Level 33 Level 33 Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to coming-of-age story “Spike Island,” which stars “Game of Thrones” actress Emilia Clarke, Variety has learned exclusively. Level 33 plans a theatrical release in May. Elliott Tittensor, Rob James-Collier (“Downton Abbey”), Lesley Manville (“Maleficent”) and Kaya Scodelario (“The Maze Runner”) also star along with Adam Long, Oliver Heald, Antonia Thomas, Michael Socha, Jordan Murphy and Nico Mirallegro. The film, which was released in 2013 in the U.K. by Universal Pictures and Vertigo Films, also features the songs of the British rock band The Stone Roses. Mat Whitecross (“Road to Guantanamo”) directed from Chris Coghill’s script. Producers are Esther Douglas and Fiona Neilson. The story centers on members of a wannabe rock band in Manchester who hatch a plan to hand-deliver their demo tape to their idols, The Stone Roses, at the band’s impending gig at Spike Island. When the friends’ tickets fail to materialize, the band members are forced to take extreme measures to sneak into the concert. Clarke will be seen next in “Terminator Genisys” as Sarah Connor. Bankside Films negotiated the deal on behalf of the producers.
