Mythology Entertainment Inks First-Look Deal with 20th Century Fox & Fox 21 TV Studios
Mythology Entertainment has inked a first-look deal with 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios.
Mythology also announced Thursday the hiring of department heads, Julia Gunn as exec vice president of television and Tracey Nyberg as exec vice president of film.
Under the pact with 20th and Fox 21, the production company will develop and produce broadcast, cable and digital scripted series wit the studios.
Gunn and Nyberg will both report to Mythology co-founders Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt, and William Sherak, a consultant and producer for the company in both film and television.
“We are thrilled to have a home at Fox for Mythology’s television business, which we look forward to building under Julia Gunn’s leadership along with our new partners at 20th and Fox 21,” Fischer and Vanderbilt said .
Of the inhouse expansion, the duo said: “We are also excited to welcome the incomparable Tracey Nyberg to our team to oversee Mythology’s film slate. Julia and Tracey bring with them an extraordinary wealth of experience and relationships, not to mention great taste. We’re lucky to have them aboard.”
Nyberg comes from Temple Hill Entertainment where she was senior vice president of production. While there, she exec produced the Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough starrer “Safe Haven,” plus another Nicholas Sparks screen adaptation, the upcoming “The Longest Ride.” She also shepherded the pilot of ABC’s “Revenge.” Previously, Nyberg was vice president of production at Overbrook Entertainment where she worked on features “I Am Legend,” “Hancock” and “Seven Pounds.”
Gunn served as vice prez of scripted programming at Lifetime, before joining the team at Mythology. Prior to that, at Warner Bros. Television, she oversaw programming for “The West Wing,” “ER” and “Friends,” among others.
