Warner Bros. to Launch New Batman, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Mortal Kombat’ Mobile Games
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced a slate of five upcoming mobile game releases for 2015, with titles based on franchises including Batman, DC Comics, “Mortal Kombat,” the Lego brand and HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
“We’ve seen tremendous growth with our mobile business and expect to increase our market share by applying our best-in-class development, publishing and brand marketing to this impressive slate of games,” said David Haddad, exec VP and G.M. of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
The five new games under development by the studio are:
“Batman: Arkham Underworld” (Turbine): Users can build their hideout in Gotham City, then recruit and train an army of henchmen to do their bidding. Gameplay will include commanding super-villains from the “Batman: Arkham” universe, including the Riddler, Harley Quinn and Killer Croc. Users can sign up for the beta at arkhamunderworld.com. From Turbine.
“Game of Thrones” (Turbine): Yet-untitled game will let you conquer Westeros in an epic combat strategy game. Users must prove the wit of their spies and the might of their forces on the battlefield across the Seven Kingdoms.
“Mortal Kombat X” (NetherRealm Studios): Game blends fighting and card collection and will feature cinematic gameplay and visceral fatalities. Users can play as classic fighters, as well as all-new characters. In addition, players who buy a forthcoming version of the game for consoles or PCs will be able to unlock content in the mobile game and vice versa.
“Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham” (TT Games): The Caped Crusader joins forces with superheroes of the DC Comics universe in this premium game, with Batman blasting off to outer space to stop the evil Brainiac from destroying Earth.
“DC Comics Legends” (WB Games San Francisco): Gamers will grow their collection of legendary DC Comics super heroes and villains, customizing super teams with the right heroes for each encounter in this mobile role-playing game.
The new titles will join two games launched earlier in 2015: “WWE Immortals,” which has more than 7 million installs since going live Jan. 15, and “The Lego Movie Videogame” for mobile devices on Feb. 11.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has launched 25 games over the last four years, with more than 150 million installs to date.
