variety.com/2015/digital/news/machinima-hires-jamie-weissenborn-as-chief-revenue-officer-1201445247/Machinima, a digital-media company focused on gamer and fanboy audiences, has hired Jamie Weissenborn, a former senior ad exec at Sony Pictures Television, in the newly created position of chief revenue officer. Weissenborn will oversee all of Machinima’s direct sales, including branded content and media sales, reporting to Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein. At Machinima, Weissenborn has his work cut out for him, as the YouTube-focused multichannel network has struggled financially. Last month, the MCN raised $24 million in financing led by Warner Bros. Entertainment, before laying off 13 of its 90 employees. “Jamie’s traditional and social video sales leadership, combined with his strong roster of senior-level client and agency relationships, make him the right person to help clients access Machinima’s unmatched millennial audience,” Gutstein said in a statement. Weissenborn was most recently interim CEO at BlackTree TV, an urban entertainment channel on YouTube. He still currently serves as an investor adviser to BlackTree as well as Autoproyecto.com, an online Hispanic automotive publisher. Prior to BlackTree, Weissenborn was at consulting firm MediaLink as senior VP of online video and content strategy, where his clients included Machinima, Maker Studios, Zefr and Vevo. Weissenborn previously served almost nine years as senior VP of digital media and global advertising sales at Sony Pictures Television, where he led ad sales for Sony’s Crackle online-video service and oversaw centralized sales and branded content efforts for Sony Pictures Television networks worldwide.
