Buffy, prepare to take on The Force. Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the voice cast of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Details on just which character Gellar will voice on season two of the animated series are being kept under wraps. The actress, who recently starred on CBS comedy The Crazy Ones, will join a voice cast that includes her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., as well as Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and David Oyelowo. "We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two. She is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions," exec producer/supervising director Dave Filoni said in making the announcement. Continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, Star Wars Rebels unfolds between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV and tells the story of the motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost who together face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries and embark on thrilling adventures. In its second season, Star Wars Rebels will feature recurring appearances by fan-favorite characters including Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano. For Gellar, the role marks her latest TV voice work in addition to Robot Chicken, American Dad, The Simpsons as well as features TMNT, Freedom Force, Happily N'Ever After and more. She's repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
