variety.com/2015/tv/news/germanys-prosiebensat-1-extends-pact-with-fox-1201421197/LONDON — German broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 has extended its existing content licensing agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. The pact secures exclusive free TV rights to numerous Hollywood blockbusters, including “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” as well as U.S. series including the upcoming comedy drama “Backstrom” and hit drama “Empire,” in European German-speaking countries. For the first time, animated films by DreamWorks Animation are included in the contract. The rights package also covers exclusive basic pay TV licenses. Other highlights of the agreement are “Rio 2″ and “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” and the planned sequel to James Cameron’s “Avatar.” The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has long-term deals with nearly all major Hollywood studios as well as numerous leading indies. Rüdiger Böss, executive VP group programming acquisitions, ProSiebenSat.1 Media, said: “Each production year, Twentieth Century Fox provides an exceptional mix of lavishly produced blockbusters and bold film adaptations of new material, ranging from ‘X-Men’ to ‘The Fault in Our Stars.’ We are therefore very pleased to continue our partnership.”
