Block will produce with Benderspink. The story centers on small-town teenagers drawn deep into a social-networking site that promises to grant their every need, regardless of the consequences. The deal for the movie rights was done by Sean Daily of Hotchkiss and Associates for Stacia Decker of the Donald Maass Literary Agency. Block and Kevin Frakes announced in October that they had teamed with hedge fund Merced Capital to launch a $500 million slate of films to be produced over the next three to five years under the Merced Media moniker. Merced Capital has already invested in “The November Man,” “Rush,” “Term Life,” “American Ultra” and “Sing Street.” Block is CEO of production and sales company QED Intl., financed by Media Content Capital, and producer of Brad Pitt vehicle “Fury,” Bill Murray starrer “Rock the Kasbah,” “Elysium” and “District 9.” Benderspink’s producing credits include “We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses 2″ and the upcoming “Vacation” reboot.
