Ridley Scott Donates Collection to USC School of Cinematic Arts
Helmer Ridley Scott has donated his collection of career memorabilia to USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
The archive includes scripts, photographs, storyboards and host of other materials from his long career in film and TV, starting with his 1977 feature debut “The Duellists.”
Scott’s many films include “Alien,” “American Gangster,” “Blade Runner,” “Gladiator,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” “Thelma and Louise” and most recently, “Exodus: Gods and Kings.”
“Ridley’s storied career is nearly unparalleled. He has traversed genres, and historical periods, mixed fantasy with biographical dramas, epics with small personal stories,” said USC SCA dean Elizabeth Daley. “There is no one like him, and his legacy of memorabilia will be kept close to our hearts for generations to come.”
Scott’s archives join such collections as Jack Warner, David L. Wolper, Frank Sinatra and Dennis Hopper that are housed at USC’s film school.
“I continue to be impressed by the USC School of Cinematic Arts,” said Scott. “Perhaps if I had gone there, my film career would have started much sooner.”
