Black List Horror Pic ‘Dark Was The Night’ Sells To Image; Breaking Glass Picks Up ‘Uncertain Terms’ – Film Roundup
Image Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights for Caliber Media’s Dark Was The Night, starring The Strain‘s Kevin Durand and Lukas Haas as local sheriffs battling an ancient evil. Jack Heller directed from a script by Tyler Hisel that made the 2009 Black List under the title The Trees. Image, a division of RLJ Entertainment, is planning a theatrical release this year.
The pic played at ScreamFest and at the Film Society in New York and is produced by Heller and his Caliber partner Dallas Sonnier, Sundial’s Stefan Nowicki and Joey Carey, and P Street’s Dylan Narang also produced. Preferred Content’s Kevin Iwashina and Ross Dinerstein executive produced alongside Hisel and his manager Alexander Robb.
The deal was negotiated by Mark Ward on behalf of Image and by Sonnier on behalf of Caliber.
Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired North American rights to Nathan Silver’s fest pic Uncertain Terms, with a spring theatrical and digital release planned. The pic, which premiered at the LA Film Festival last year, follows a 30-year-old man who needs an escape from his troubled marriage in Brooklyn and leaves for the countryside to stay with his Aunt Carla at her bucolic home for pregnant teenagers. He soon finds himself caught in a love triangle between one of the teens and her delinquent boyfriend.
India Menuez, David Dahlbom and Cindy Silver star. It was written by Nathan Silver, Chloe Domont and Cody Stokes and produced by Domont, Josh Mandel and Richard Peete.
