This mid-weekend report on the Victoria (Texas) Comic-Con includes interviews with one cosplayer, one comics creator (Chris Garrett), and one gamer, which is a pretty good balance as articles like this go.

Victoria Comic Con receives massive crowd first day
Long, flowing platinum hair with delicate waves could be seen walking amid the massive crowd at the second annual Victoria Comic Con on Saturday.
Alexandria Hamilton, 20, was dressed as Daenerys Targaryen from "Game of Thrones" and embodied all of the character's main elements.
"I am a really big fan of the show," she said. "I wanted to look exactly like her."
For the second year, Victoria Comic Con opened its doors at the Victoria Community Center.
Many came dressed in cosplay - a fusion of the words costume play.
From her ravaged clothing to a hand-controlled movable dragon on her shoulder, Hamilton said it took extensive effort to perfectly emulate her favorite character.
"It took me about three hours to get the wig on," she said. "It's a really expensive one. It's supposed to look like it's growing out of my head. I also tried to get my eyebrows exactly like hers."
Many convention-goers stopped Hamilton for photographs as they made their way through the event.
"It's really exciting when people like my costume and to see all the hard work other people put in theirs," she said.
While celebrities signed autographs for eager fans, vendors sold their original artwork, comics and apparel.
Victoria native Chris Garrett was at the event, selling his comic book series, Overtime Comics, which he writes and creates.
Currently based out of Austin, Garrett said he appreciates the increase of interest in comics in his hometown.
"I am happy to see this here; there's so much more than when I was here growing up," he said. "There would be a comic book store around for two years and close and then another. But I notice recently there has been more of a spread of love for comics."
His brother, Joshua Garrett, also had his own booth at the convention for his card game, Random Encounters.
"My business partner and I made this simple, fun card game to basically just see if we could," he said.
Garrett sat at his booth's table instructing many how to play.
"We've been working nonstop on this for two years," he said. "We've gotten a pretty good response here."
Comic Con will be back for round two Sunday, where Hamilton will spend the morning preparing her cosplay outfit together - all over again.
"This is just really amazing," she said. "I go to big conventions all over the state, and I see it's really living up to bigger cities."
