variety.com/2015/film/news/bourne-sequel-release-date-matt-damon-1201393769/Bourne Sequel With Matt Damon Release Date Pushed Back Jason Bourne fans will have to wait two weeks longer to see Matt Damon back to his ass-kicking ways as the amnesiac superspy. Universal Pictures is shifting the debut of the still-untitled sequel from July 15 to July 29, 2016. The action-thriller will face off against the comedy “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates” and will get a weeklong head start on the DC Comics adaptation “Suicide Squad” that is set to star Will Smith and Jared Leto. In its former perch, the Bourne picture would have faced competition from “Ice Age 5,” although the pictures appeal to different demographics. It would also have contended with the second weekend of the third “Star Trek” film. Not only is Damon returning to the franchise, but Universal has also lured back “Bourne Ultimatum” and “Bourne Supremacy” director Paul Greengrass to the fold. Their return to the Bourne pictures ended up taking up the release slot that had been reserved for a sequel to the Bourne spinoff film “The Bourne Legacy” that starred Jeremy Renner.

deadline.com/2015/06/julia-stiles-bourne-identity-matt-damon-paul-greengrass-1201450436/Julia Stiles To Rejoin Matt Damon And Paul Greengrass In Next ‘Bourne Identity’ The fourth installment of The Bourne Identity franchise (and third with Paul Greengrass) has begun casting up, and the first confirmed star beyond Matt Damon is Julia Stiles. She has closed a deal to reprise her role as covert agent Nicky Parsons in Universal Pictures’ Untitled Next Bourne Chapter. Stiles appeared in the first three films, emerging as an ally for the amnesiac assassin title character Jason Bourne. Let’s hope they bring back Joan Allen, who also has been a galvanizing figure in the franchise. Deadline revealed that Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander was being sought for a major role, but Stiles is the first cast member we’ve confirmed so far. Stiles will be been next in Beyond Deceit opposite Al Pacino and Go With Me opposite Anthony Hopkins. This gives Universal another strong tentpole, which has fueled its strong performance so far this year. Greengrass is writing the screenplay with Christopher Rouse and Frank Marshall again produces the action-thriller alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon and Greg Goodman also produce. Rouse and Henry Morrison serve as executive producers. Stiles is represented by ICM Partners, Untitled and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern.

deadline.com/2015/06/alicia-vikander-jason-bourne-sequel-opposite-matt-damon-paul-greengrass-1201452209/Alicia Vikander Confirmed For Bourne Sequel Opposite Matt Damon Alicia Vikander has now been set to star in the next instalment of the Jason Bourne saga opposite Matt Damon, Deadline can confirm. She will not, however, be starring in Justin Kurzel’s Assassins Creed pic opposite Michael Fassbender. The Swedish star, currently the equivalent of a cinematic supernova following a starmaking turn in Alex Garland’s sleeper hit Ex Machina, could not get her schedule to accommodate both projects. Deadline also understands she is unlikely to circle back to The Circle as things currently stand. That project, with Image Nation Abu Dhabi fully financing and presenting the film in association with Parkes Macdonald Productions, was one of the hot sellers at this year’s Cannes market for IM Global. Based on a Dave Eggers novel and written and directed by James Ponsoldt, The Circle has Tom Hanks attached to star and produce alongside Gary Goetzman through their shingle Playtone and Anthony Bregman’s Likely Story. Vikander’s star should continue to rise, as she has Warner Bros’ The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl for Working Title, the Weinstein Co’s Tulip Fever, John Wells’ Adam Jones with Bradley Cooper and Jamie Dornan and Derek Cianfrance’s The Light Between Oceans opposite Michael Fassbender all wrapped and in the pipelines. Paul Greengrass returns to direct the Bourne pic and is writing the screenplay with Christopher Rouse. Frank Marshall again produces the action-thriller alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. Rouse and Henry Morrison serve as executive producers. Universal Pictures will release. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, Julia Stiles is also set to return to the cast. Vikander is represented by UTA, Tavistock Wood in the UK and Actors in Scandinavia.

variety.com/2015/film/news/tommy-lee-jones-bourne-matt-damon-1201505318/Bourne’: Tommy Lee Jones Joins Matt Damon in Sequel Tommy Lee Jones has joined Matt Damon in the next installment of the “Bourne” franchise. Alicia Vikander and Julia Stiles are also on board to join the action series, while Paul Greengrass is back to direct and pen the script with Christopher Rouse. Frank Marshall will produce again alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment. Greengrass, Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith will also produce, while Rouse and Henry Morrison will serve as executive producers. Plot details are unknown at this time, though sources say Jones will play a superior officer at the CIA. Edward Norton, Chris Cooper, Brian Cox and David Strathairn have playing similar roles in past “Bourne” movies. Production is expected to begin later this summer. The film will bow on July 29, 2016. Damon’s three Bourne movies, the first of which was released in 2002, grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide at the box office. Damon last played the iconic role in 2007’s “The Bourne Ultimatum,” and Jeremy Renner stepped into the franchise with 2012’s Tony Gilroy-directed “The Bourne Legacy.” Jones was last seen in “The Homesman,” which he also wrote and directed, and will appear alongside Kevin Costner in the upcoming thriller “Criminal.” He is represented by CAA and Jacobson, Russell, Saltz & Fingerman.
