Both Marvel and Netflix declined comment on THR's report. According to THR, Ritter will play Julia (better known as Jessica Jones), the "cynical, sardonic and tough as nails, but innately cool and sexy title character." Ritter was first reported as a frontrunner for the role in November, alongside Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw. "Jessica Jones" is one of many Marvel/Netfix 13-episode television collaborations announced in 2013. The first series, "Daredevil," is set to debut in 2015 with "Jessica Jones" to follow. "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" are next up on the block, with a "The Defenders" miniseries rounding out the projects. While no further details were divulged beyond Ritter's casting, a previous report in late November stated that Marvel is also nearing frontrunners for Luke Cage, with both Lance Gross and Mike Colter rumored to be in contention for the role.
