Kim Robert Koscki, Stuntman on the 'Austin Powers' Films, Dies at 51
He also worked on 'The Homesman' and the upcoming sequel to 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop'
Kim Robert Koscki, a stuntman and stunt coordinator who doubled for Mike Myers on the three Austin Powers films and recently worked on Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman, has died. He was 51.
Koscki, in the stunt business for more than three decades, suffered cardiac arrest while riding his bicycle near his home in Valencia, Calif., and died a few weeks later on Oct. 20, his wife Kate told The Hollywood Reporter.
The busy Koscki recently worked on the Nickelodeon action series The Thundermans as well as on the upcoming movies Wizardream, a sci-fi film starring Malcolm McDowell, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
Koscki tumbled through windows, did flips and performed dozens of other stunts as Myers’ Austin Powers in the spy spoofs International Man of Mystery (1997), The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Goldmember (2002), and he doubled for Myers on Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat (2003) as well.
He stood in for Tim Blake Nelson on The Homesman and for Rick Moranis on The Flintstones (1994).
An expert driver and motorcyclist, Koscki also was seen fleetingly in the films The Return of the Living Dead (1985), Hook (1991), Forrest Gump (1994), Batman Forever (1995), Apollo 13 (1995), Independence Day (1996), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), The Green Hornet (2011) and Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and on the TV series Lost, Sonny With a Chance and True Blood.
One of 11 children, Koscki was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., and raised in Chico, Calif. He came to Los Angeles at age 19 to pursue a career in Hollywood.
In addition to his wife, survivors included daughters McKenna and Megan.
