DWA had overseen production of the show, which debuted in January; the studio’s digital-focused AwesomenessTV division was not involved. YouTube managed sales and marketing, with Verizon as the initial sponsor. However, even as YouTube Nation’s channel subscribers have grown to about 2 million, the parties are now moving on to different initiatives. DWA this summer launched DreamWorksTV, a YouTube channel aimed at families with a mix of content from the studio’s animated and live-action original series. DWA declined to comment on the shutdown of YouTube Nation, whose final webcast is slated for Friday. Dec. 5. In a statement, YouTube said: “We want to thank the team at YouTube Nation for working so hard over the last year to bring fans an in-depth look at the amazing breadth of creators on YouTube. We are always looking at ways to spotlight our creator community, and plan to focus our efforts around other initiatives, including our global advertising campaigns and YouTube originals.” News about the demise of YouTube Nation was reported earlier by TubeFilter.
