Developed by Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "The Flash") and Ali Adler ("Chuck," "No Ordinary Family"), the adaptation of the DC Comics property was given a series commitment in mid-September, just weeks after it was revealed to be in development. According to early reports, "Supergirl" centers on Kara Zor-El, who escaped the destruction of Krypton at age 12 by fleeing to Earth, where she was taken in by the Danvers family. After years of hiding "the powers she shares with her famous cousin," she decides at age 24 to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was meant to be. Casting notices indicate the series will include new versions of DC characters Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant, as well as Kara's foster sister Alexandra "Alex" Danvers (characterized as a lead role), the head of the Department of Extranormal Operations, and 20something genius Winslow Schott (who just happens to share a name with DC's Toyman). Berlanti last month teased the possibility that CBS's "Supergirl" could "enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash" in a rare inter-network crossover. All three series are produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The 26-year-old Holt, best known for her role as Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW's "Vampire Diaries" and its spinoff "The Originals," also stars opposite David Duchovny on the upcoming NBC "event series" "Aquarius." s1029.photobucket.com/user/Simonlove69/media/claire-holt-9de01_zps5b26c716.jpg.html
