variety.com/2014/tv/news/red-band-society-to-end-production-after-13-episodes-1201365686/‘Red Band Society’ to End Production After 13 Episodes The prognosis is mixed for Fox’s quirky dramedy “Red Band Society.” The ABC Studios/Amblin TV series about a group of hospitalized teenagers facing serious illnesses will wrap production on its first season next month after completing 13 episodes. “Red Band” will air tonight and next week in its Wednesday 9 p.m. time slot, taking the show through episode 10. The remaining three segs will be scheduled later. Such a move is never a good sign for a series, but Fox emphasizes that the show remains a contender for season two. NBC is taking a similar tack with its Friday drama series “Constantine,” although that show is scheduled for a 13-episode run. The decision to cap a season at 13 episodes is another cable-like move by broadcast nets. “Red Band” to date is averaging about 1.5 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 and about 4.5 million viewers. Series is based on a format from Spain. Margaret Nagle penned the U.S. adaptation and exec produces with showrunner Rina Mimoun, Jason Ensler, Amblin’s Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank and Sergio Aguero.
