America on ‘Legend of Longwood’ LONDON — Global Screen has sold the adventure family feature “The Legend of Longwood” to Shout! Factory for the U.S. and Canada. The deal was closed at the American Film Market and marks the second pact between the Munich-based world sales company and the American independent distributor within a few weeks, with Shout! Factory having only recently picked up “The 7th Dwarf” from Global Screen. Julia Weber, head of theatrical sales at Global Screen, said: “This film has all the ingredients for a hit feature: beautiful horses, a magical world, adventure and a strong female hero to attract the kids, as well as mystic settings, history and romance for the adults.” Directed by Irish filmmaker Lisa Mulcahy, “The Legend of Longwood” tells the story of a 12-year-old girl, Mickey Miller, who has to move from New York to Longwood, a windswept Irish town. There, she soon discovers a link between herself and the 300-year-old legend of the mysterious Black Knight, who regularly haunts the sleepy village. Mickey and her new friend Sean set out to redeem the knight so as to bring lasting peace to Longwood. Pic is a co-production between Holland Harbour from the Netherlands, Grand Pictures from Ireland and Longwood Pictures from Germany. Global Screens holds world-wide distribution rights.
