‘Captain America 3′: Daniel Bruhl to Play the Villain
“Rush” actor Daniel Bruhl is in final talks to play the villain in “Captain America: Civil War,” sources confirm.
The Disney-Marvel tentpole, that will co-star Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., and feature a significant appearance by Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, is set for release May 6, 2016, and will launch the Civil War storyline from the Marvel comic books as Variety first reported.
DANIEL BRUHL JOINS "CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR" IN REPORTED VILLAIN ROLE
Actor Daniel Bruhl has been added to the cast of 2016's "Captain America: Civil War," as announced Friday by Marvel Studios. The official statement doesn't specify a role, but industry outlets including Deadline report that he will play the film's villain.
"With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes," Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige said in the statement.
Bruhl joins a cast already including returning stars Chris Evans in the title role of Captain America and Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Cap's philosophical "Civil War" opposite. The film will also introduce actor Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, slated to headline his own film in 2017. Deadline lists Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) as part of the cast, and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) as "expected to return."
Last year, Bruhl appeared in "Rush" -- which starred Chris Hemsworth, Marvel Studios' Thor -- in a supporting role that earned widespread praise, including a nomination Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. Bruhl's other roles include appearances in "The Fifth State," "Inglourious Basterds" and "The Bourne Ultimatum."
"Captain America: Civil War," directed by the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" team of Joe and Anthony Russo, is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
Rumors Of Who Daniel Brühl Is Playing In Captain America: Civil War
A Disney casting call may has told us who one of the villains in Captain America: Civil War is. Possible spoilers ahead.
This is running around the web today and folks are calling it legit, I’m a bit hesitant. If it’s true then this is definitely a spoiler.
According to the casting notice, Rush star, Daniel Brühl will play Baron Zemo, the iconic Hydra villain form the comics. It was announced back in November that Brühl had joined the cast but not as what character.
In case the notice gets pulled or changed, I grabbed a screen shot of it below… I also used a photo of Zemo to cover the Autoclub ad….
For now, I would say take this with a grain of salt. It may be completely real… but Marvel is insanely good at keeping things secret so it seems strange to see them put that much information out for a casting call. Second thing that makes me weary is the line in the piece that says Captain America and Iron Man are feuding over the Superhuman Registration Act. Now that is what they feuded over in the comic series, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe there really is no one to register. It’s not like New York is full of costumed adventurers so my thought is they will be fighting over something different in the film. And throw in the fact that the casting call says they answer to SHIELD which is in pieces…. so we’ll see how this story develops.
