variety.com/2014/digital/news/netflix-sets-streaming-date-for-marvels-agents-of-shield-season-1-1201353874/Netflix Sets Streaming Date for ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ Season 1 Netflix will add ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” season one to its streaming queue on Nov. 20 for U.S. subscribers. The show revolves around the secretive government agency SHIELD, introduced in Marvel’s “The Avengers,” to investigate supernatural phenomena. Series exec producer Joss Whedon directed and wrote the screenplay for the 2012 “Avengers” movie. The TV series stars Clark Gregg, reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson from the “Avengers” and “Iron Man” movies. Cast also includes Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge. The first season of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” ran last fall on the Alphabet net, with season two currently airing. Separately, Netflix and Disney last year inked a multiyear deal under which Marvel Television will develop four original live-action series based on four of Marvel’s popular street-hero characters, set to bow in 2015. The first is “Daredevil,” followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage.” That came after Netflix’s output deal with Disney announced in December 2012, under which Netflix secured U.S. pay-TV window rights for Disney films starting in 2016. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” is produced by Mutant Enemy and Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios. Netflix’s streaming debut of season one was reported earlier by the New York Post’s Decider.com.
