Maxdome, which is owned by German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, is Germany’s leading streaming service. U.S. streaming service Netflix launched in the market in September. Other VOD operators in Germany include Amazon’s Prime Instant Video, Sky’s Snap and Vivendi’s Watchever. Maxdome reported a Euro 12,000 ($15,000) loss last year. It offers more than 60,000 titles. The VOD market in Germany is expected to grow to $599 million by 2018, up from $247 million last year, according to Bundesverband Audiovisuelle Medien.
