The film, directed by Ning Hao (“Crazy Racer”) and producer Sheng Deng sees two pals embark on a misguided road trip after one seeks to get over his recent divorce by any means possible. En route they encounter crazy situations and some wild women. Released in China in September, the film has so far clocked up a box office gross of $184 million, making it the third biggest Chinese film of all time. IM Global’s Anthem division is selling rights to the original movie and has so far secured deals in 20 territories, including North America and Australia, through China Lion. The deal was brokered by Sheng on behalf of Dirty Monkey Productions and on behalf of IM Global by SVP of international business development David Jourdan, SVP of sales and acquisitions for Asia, Leslie Chen, and head of business affairs Deborah Zipser. Los Angeles-based IM Global, which spans sales, production and finance, has growing interests in China. It opened a Beijing sales and distribution office headed by Chen in mid 2013 and earlier this year took on sales representation of the slate of pictures from Huayi Brothers Media.
