variety.com/2014/film/news/morgan-spurlock-rats-nyc-documentary-1201351467/AFM: Morgan Spurlock Boards ‘Rats NYC’ Documentary Morgan Spurlock has come on board to produce the documentary “Rats NYC” for his Warrior Poets banner with Dakota Group and Submarine. Submarine is handling worldwide sales at AFM. Production will start in January. The project has been in the works since September, when Submarine and Dakota acquired rights at the Toronto Film Festival to Robert Sullivan’s book “Rats: Observations on the History and Habitat of the City’s Most Unwanted Residents.” David Koh, Stanley Buchthal, Dan Braun and Josh Braun are producing for Dakota and Submarine, while Spurlock and Jeremy Chilnick are producers for Warrior Poets. The film will feature exterminators, sanitation workers, mobsters, activists, Nobel scientists and historians explaining where rats came from and why they survive. “As a New Yorker, I’ve had a two decade-long love/hate affair with rats,” Spurlock said. “We’ve all seen them, and we all live with them, we just don’t want to know we’re living with them. This movie is going to be a modern day horror film — it will make you squirm, scream and jump out of your chair. You may not like rats, but you’ll love this movie.”
