The plot is based on a true story that revolves around Jeremiah Heaton’s efforts to claim land in Africa’s Bir Tawil region of North Sudan, and create a new soverign nation, in order to fulfill the wishes of his seven-year-old daughter to become a princess. The land, now known as the “Heaton Kingdom,” borders Sudan and Egypt, and was one of the last unclaimed areas of the world. Spurlock will produce the film — a rare departure from his documentary fare like “Super Size Me” — through his Warrior Poets banner with the Arlook Group’s Richard Arlook, who manages the filmmaker. CAA, which reps Spurlock and Heaton, packaged the project. Deadline first reported the project.
