Warners Bros. Lands Period Action Pic ‘World Breaker’ from ‘Signal’ Director
Warner Bros. has acquired the script “World Breaker,” co-written by Will Eubank and Philip Gawthorne, which Eubank will direct.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken are producing. Joseph Vicenti and Joshua Horsfield executive producing.
Story follows a mythical Scottish warlord and his sons who withstand a massive castle siege launched by the ruthless commander of an invading army.
Drew Crevello and Julia Spiro are overseeing for the studio.
Warners is already high on the medieval-themed projects as it is in pre-production on the Guy Ritchie King Arthur pic “Knights of the Round Table.”
This is the second project with Warners for Eubank, who will direct “Tautona” from a script he is writing with Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio, with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian and Kavanaugh-Jones producing. Eubank most recently directed the sci-fi thriller “The Signal,” for Focus, which he also co-wrote, which premiered at Sundance this year.
Eubank’s profile among studios is rising following critical acclaim for “The Signal” at the festival.
Gawthorne has written extensively for the BBC and last year he sold his original sci-fi drama series “Human Error” to Starz. His U.K. romantic-comedy ‘Modern Life is Rubbish” is also due to shoot next year.
Eubank and Gawthorne are repped by CAA and attorney Greg Slewett. Eubank is also represented by Anonymous Content; Gawthorne is also represented 42 Management and Production.
