Hero Time Comics, Inc. has found its new home on North Line Road in Southgate.
The business is a destination for the latest pop culture products and merchandise ranging from comics and graphic novels to costumes and vintage toys.
In addition to selling vintage items, the store also buys them. Trade and in-store credit are an option for those looking to reduce their collections and acquire new toys.
The owners of Hero Time is Joe and Sherri Abbulone of Woodhaven who have been interested in vintage toys and comics for more than a decade.
“We decided to open Hero Time Comics after being in the restaurant business for over 10 years,” said Sherri Abbulone. “We decided on a career change that was more supportive raising two seven-year olds who love toys and superheroes.”
Additionally, Joe Abbulone, and their son, Salvatore, inspired the couple to take their love of Star Wars to the next level by dressing up as stormtroopers for charity.
“We needed a life that was conducive to raising children and our love for reading and literacy ties into the comics,” said Sherri Abbulone. “It’s a great family business.”
Sherri Abbulone said they welcome and support local artists who are looking to display their masterpieces in a unique hipster setting.
Artwork created by Tony Miello, a local artist from Wyandotte, will be featured in the store until Christmas.
Hero Time Comics is located at 14432 North Line Road near Dix Toledo Road.
The store is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
