variety.com/2014/tv/news/abc-to-air-star-wars-rebels-spark-of-rebellion-with-darth-vader-cameo-1201325671/Having already premiered on Disney Channel and Disney XD, as well as online platforms, “Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion” is now set to get a special airing on ABC — with Darth Vader tagging along. The animated film, which sets up the characters and settings of the “Star Wars Rebels” series, will air on the network Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. An added scene will feature Darth Vader, voiced by James Earl Jones, providing more backstory to the show’s villain, the Inquisitor. With the show being the first high-profile project from Lucasfilm since Disney acquired the company, the Mouse House is putting considerable resources into promoting “Star Wars Rebels.” “We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” said “Rebels'” executive producer Dave Filoni. The premiere of the TV movie was watched by 6.5-million viewers on Disney Channel and Disney XD around the world. The weekly series begins its run on Disney XD on Oct. 13. Show already has been picked up for a second season. “Spark of Rebellion,” was screened at San Diego Comic-Con, in July, and is set between the events of “Star Wars Episodes III and IV,” with its look influenced by the work of original “Star Wars” concept artist Ralph McQuarrie. Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”) created “Rebels” with Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) and Carrie Beck. The voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray, David Oyelowo and Jason Isaacs.
