Former Chaos! Comics head Brian Pulido announced Thursday that he's reached agreement with Avatar Press, the publishing home of Pulido's Lady Death since 2005, to regain sole ownership of the character.
Avatar Press will publish one final series, Lady Death: Apocalypse, starting in March 2015. According to the announcement by Pulido, concurrently he'll launch a new publishing entity Coffin Comics for all future Lady Death titles, as well as a new supernatural universe in which Lady Death will play a major role.
“The future looks bright for my dark diva,” Pulido said. “I’m excited to reveal the next chapter in her undead life.”
Lady Death was created by Pulido and debuted in Eternity Comics' Evil Ernie #1 in 1991. The first Lady Death solo series debuted in 1992. Since then, according to Pulido, "Lady Death has appeared in over 100 comics in eight languages, selling over 20 million copies worldwide."
