'Army of Darkness' Goes Galactic with Cullen Bunn
Also, 'Lady Demon' and 'Shaft' Miniseries
Dynamite Entertainment has announced several new series launching in December, including Cullen Bunn scripting a new Army of Darkness title which will see Ash in outer space, a new Lady Demon miniseries, and prose author David F. Walker penning the new Shaft miniseries.
Bunn (Deadpool, The Sixth Gun) will be sending Ash “The Chosen One” Williams to the International Space Station to battle the Deadites to stop Armageddon. Art will be done by Larry Watts (Robyn Hood), with covers by Gabriel Hardman, Tim Seeley, Art Adams, Walter Flanagan, and Jay Shaw. Army of Darkness #1 will arrive in December.
Another Chaos! Comics dark diva will make her first Dynamite debut in a new miniseries written by Aaron Gillespie (The Bionic Man, Purgatori), with art by Mirka Andolfo(Chaos!, Bravest Warriors).
Covers for the first issue will be provided by Joyce Chin, Mirka Andolfo, Allison Sohn, Cat Staggs, Cedric Poulat, and Mike Mayhew. The series will follow Lady Demon, who is on the run from Lucifer’s hit squad, as she attaches herself to a soul that is attached to a woman in the middle of a dark conspiracy.
Journalist, prose author and filmmaker David F. Walker, whose comic credits include Number 13, The Army of Dr. Moreau, and the Supernals Experiment, has been announced as writer on a new Shaft eight-issue miniseries (see “Dynamite Expands Literary Licenses with 'Shaft' and Sanderson”). The author of BadAzz MoFo and Reflections on Blaxploitation: Actors and Directors Speak will partner with artist Bilquis Everly (Doc Savage, The Shadow/Green Hornet: Dark Nights).
The new series will explore the “tough, take-no-guff detective’s” origins before he became a well-known hard-boiled investigator in New York. Shaft #1 will feature cover art by Francesco Francavilla, Michael Avon Oeming, Ulises Farinas, Matt Haley, Sanford Greene, and a collaboration between Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz.
