variety.com/2014/film/news/the-bye-bye-man-movie-weinstein-company-1201303309/ Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s TWC-Dimension has acquired worldwide rights to Intrepid Pictures’ supernatural thriller “The Bye Bye Man.” The deal includes a proceed-to-production commitment. Stacy Title (“The Last Supper”) will direct from a script adapted by Jonathan Penner from the short story “The Bridge to Body Island” by Robert Damon Schneck, chronicling the harrowing events experienced by three Wisconsin college students in the early 1990s. Schneck’s story appeared in the anthology “The President’s Vampire: Strange-but-True Tales of the United States of America.” TWC said the logline and plot details are currently being kept under wraps. Trevor Macy will produce through his Intrepid Pictures banner with Marc D. Evans and David Prior as exec producers. Intrepid produced “Oculus” and is in post-production on “Somnia,” starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane. The deal was negotiated by Adrian Lopez and Matthew Signer for TWC-Dimension and by Reder & Feig for Intrepid. Penner and Title are represented by manager Dannie Festa of Festa Entertainment, Paradigm and Jackoway Tyerman.
