variety.com/2014/news/x-factor-singer-dead-1201299604/“X Factor” finalist and G.R.L. pop group member Simone Battle was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Friday. She was 25. The singer was discovered hanging on a rod in her bedroom closet on Friday morning, TMZ reports. The official cause of death awaits an autopsy report. Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabe Records and RCA released a joint statement on their client’s tragic death. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing,” the statement reads. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.” Battle made it into the top 17 in the girls category on the first season of the U.S. version of “X Factor,” which ran on Fox for three seasons before being cancelled earlier this year. She was eliminated from the show after the first live performance. She joined G.R.L., the all-female group formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, in August 2012. The band’s first single, “Vacation,” was featured on “The Smurfs 2” soundtrack.
