Alex Kurtzman’s newly-formed production company Secret Hideout has inked a three-year production deal with Universal Pictures.
Jeb Brody, Focus Features president of production, and Bobby Cohen, president of K/O Paper Products, will join Secret Hideout. Kim Rosen, a former development executive for K/O, will serve as the company’s head of digital and interactive.
“I adore the entire team at Universal: from Jeff Shell and Donna Langley’s hands-on leadership and global vision, to Jeff Kirschenbaum and Peter Cramer’s unwavering partnership, I’m so proud to keep building my home here at Universal, where so many of my favorite movies were made,” said Kurtzman in a statement.
With his new production company, Kurtzman will keep his current offices on the Universal lot and look toward franchise and multi-quadrant films.
“Alex has proven experience on a range of films and his prolific body of work speaks for itself,” said Langley in a statement.
Kurtzman is currently working in conjunction with Chris Morgan on Universal’s re-launch of the classic movie monster franchises. He will direct a reimagining of “The Mummy” slated for June 2016. He is also producing the fantasy adventure series “Dragonology,” based on the children’s book series for Universal.
Kurtzman is also producing several different properties alongside his television partner Roberto Orci including the sequel to “Now You See Me” for Lionsgate Films and “Locke & Key,” based on the dark fantasy graphic novels by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. They are also working on adaptations of Anne Rice’s novels in “The Vampire Chronicles” series with Imagine Entertainment, both for Universal.
