---Preston City Wrestling in Great Britain announced on their website that former boxing great Riddick Bowe would be debuting for the promotion in 2014. The press release reads as follows:
Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion Riddick Bowe to make wrestling debut for UK based Preston City Wrestling
The UK based wrestling promotion Preston City Wrestling announced today that former Undisputed World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Riddick Bowe will make his wrestling debut for PCW in 2014. Company officials have exchanged contracts with Mr Bowe’s representatives for a bout to take place on 1st March 2014. Preston City Wrestling (PCW) officials expect this to raise the company's profile and widen its fan base by appealing to both boxing and wrestling audiences. In addition to wrestling on the 1st March 2014 Mr Bowe will also appear 28th February 2014 for a final contract signing, with his soon to be announced opponent.
PCW owner Steven Fludder said: “This is an exciting coup for Preston City Wrestling. Riddick Bowe is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time and has been training hard to make the transition to the wrestling ring”
Last month the 6ft 5in star said: "I want to be first heavyweight boxing champion and heavyweight wrestling champion. I have trained hard with those bumps."
Brian Elliot Fighting Sprit Magazine Editor: “Riddick Bowe was a household name for his accomplishments in boxing, and for him to be making his pro wrestling debut for Preston City Wrestling says a lot about how that company is perceived by the international talent who've performed there,” said Brian Elliott, the editor of Fighting Spirit Magazine. “PCW has taken the best bits of British wrestling and updated them for a young audience that is influenced by WWE. They are unquestionably the most forward-thinking group in England, and the signing of Riddick Bowe is a testament to that.”
About Preston City Wrestling: Established in June 2011 in Preston, Lancashire, Preston City Wrestling is the fastest rising company in the UK, using the very best in wrestlers in the UK today. In PCW you can regularly see big name international stars who have wrestled for US based promotions WWE, TNA and ROH. Names such as Chris Masters John Morrison, Ted Dibiase, Goldust, Tommy Dreamer, The Steiner Brothers, Lita and many more. Preston City Wrestling is also the first company in England to film all of their shows in a High Definition format. They have released a Blu Ray in 3D and are the first independent wrestling company in the world to do so. About Riddick Bowe: Riddick Lamont Bowe (born August 10, 1967, Brooklyn, New York City) is a former two-time World Heavyweight boxing champion, first winning the WBA, WBC and IBF titles in 1992, becoming undisputed heavyweight champion. Bowe's second reign as heavyweight champion was in 1995 when he won the WBO title. Bowe retired in 1996 but made a return to the ring in 2004. Riddick Bowe, 6ft 5in, became the first fighter to defeat Evander Holyfield when he beat him in 1992 for the world heavyweight title. He then became the first fighter to knock Holyfield out, when he beat him in their rubber match in 1995. Bowe's professional boxing record stands at 43-1-0 (1 NC) with 33 KO's. He has defeated every opponent he has fought except Buster Mathis, Jr. (their bout ended as a no-contest).
INTERVIEWS:
---This past Thursday, Vader joined Inside The Ropes for a rare radio interview. here are the highlights:
Working with Hulk Hogan in WCW:
Terry, he was obviously in charge. Everyone said that Eric was in charge but Hogan was pretty much running the show. He did what he wanted to do so when you worked with Hogan it was like working with the President of CNN. He called the shots, we did what he wanted to do. It wasn't the match I would've had with him. The match I would've had with him, not necessarily a different outcome, just a different context of the match. Terry is doing fantastic and I wish him well. I'm honored to have worked with him. Hulk Hogan, when it comes to wrestling, he started it all. He's the man. You've had The Rock and Stone Cold, but before them you had Hogan, he was the very first. My hats off to him.
Why he asked to be released from WWF to return to Japan:
I wanted to finish out my career with my style. I was able to do it over there. I think I was back in Japan, two or three weeks and Baba had put the Triple Crown World Title on me. I was back in shape and doing my style. (In WWF) You're working with major superstars and they control the show. It's kind of like working with a bunch of Hulk Hogan's you know, they run the show. When you're in the ring with Shawn Michaels, he calls the show, when you're in there with The Undertaker, it's like their house.
What guys currently in wrestling he enjoys watching:
I like Brock Lesnar a lot. He's significantly better this time than he was the last time around. He's just perfect. He's the perfect size, the perfect height. He can wrestle anyone big or small. It's not like he's 6'9 like The Undertaker. It's not like where Undertaker and some of the smaller guys, you know you can't match them up. Lesnar, you know, he's 6'4 and he's wrestling CM Punk. CM Punk is not real big and not real tall yet Lesnar and him had a good match. With his height, you know, he's the beast, he's an incredible physical specimen. The fact that he's just the right height, he's tall enough to fight, Kane or The Undertaker or he can go down to wrestlers on the smaller scale and have a great match. I think we'll see great things from him in the next year.

The highs, the lows, the struggles, the successes... From his early days
A phenomenally intense competitor, Davey has a fine sense of humour alongside his keen insight into the wrestling business. Often a polarising figure but never less than a hundred percent honest, he's sure to make for a fascinating night.
This will take place at The Lass O'Gowrie, one of Manchester's most famous pubs. Tickets are strictly limited for this event, the cosy venue seats a maximum of forty people. The price includes a post show meet & greet with autograph and photo opportunity. For one night only... The Hunt Is On.
